Latin Music Week 2023 Features an Exclusive Performance by Thalia of Songs from Her Upcoming Mexican Music EP

Latin Music: At a private gathering during Billboard Latin Music Week 2023, the international diva unveiled four tracks and the title of her new album.

Thalia, a superstar of Mexican music, performed four songs from her new EP exclusively at Billboard’s Latin Music Week. The first song “Bebé, Perdón,” published at midnight on Tuesday, October 2, along with “Te Va a Doler,” “Para Qué Celarme,” and “Choro,” all from the forthcoming album A Mucha Honra, were all first heard by attendees at the “Premiere Party” on October 2.

She claimed to have spent over two years working on the record, which will be released in the first quarter of 2024 on the Sony Music Latin label. The Mexican superstar revealed that it will feature collaborations with Grupo Sin Lmite members Angela Aguilar and Dania under Jimmy Humilde’s production.

The Mexican singer spoke with Sigal Ratner-Arias, deputy editor of Billboard Espaol and the event’s moderator while wearing a monochromatic white outfit, blue boots, and shiny gloves. She discussed the creative process with Humilde, one of the promoters of the new wave of Mexican music, with whom she collaborated on its production and who also briefly appeared on stage.

Humilde claims that he called Thalia on the phone for the first time “trembling with emotion” because he admires her work as an artist. However, he claimed that he met a really composed individual with whom he connected right away. They soon got started on the project that Thalia intended to use to learn more about her Mexican heritage.

“The requintos evoke something in the soul, something in the heart, something of longing, something of oblivion, something of pain, something of love, something distant but close,” she remarked. “And after that, the lyrics… I have to include this kind of material in my songs. I have found a more devastated, vengeful, and tortured Thalia in this album.

The singer said, “We have always been in fashion,” referring to the song’s current global appeal.

The singer said of the current phase Mexican music is experiencing—which now has a global audience—that “We Have Always Been In Fashion. In all the musical genres that Mexican music, which is incredibly diverse and beautiful, encompasses, our music has always been contemporary and strong. The younger generation, in my opinion, is currently enjoying the sounds that move your insides: requintos, accordions, and the rediscovery of (Mexican music). They seem to be appropriating it as their own. About Thalia’s new venture, Humilde said, “That she is adjusting and coming to support our genre is incredible. Imagine someone with that much prestige, influence, and history joining the brand-new Mexican music genre. That would be awesome.

Thalia had a very scientific approach to choosing who would accompany her in order to connect with her roots in music with more localized Mexican sounds. The actor recalls, “My father was a criminologist.” I can still picture him telling me, as I sat at the table, to “always ask, always analyze… you look for something that you need to know. And when criminologist Thalia Sodi spoke out about this movement, I asked, “Where did this come from?” The forerunner was who? Who was present from the start?… and I went to see Mr. Humilde.

Humilde accompanied producer and close associate Edgar Rodriguez to the artist’s meeting to discuss the project. Rodrguez heard Thalia say, “I don’t bite. I want to sound like Thalia and like myself, but I don’t. Please assist me in letting go of my crutches, which I use, adore, and my fashions. I’m not going to get angry, so tell me. I want to change and learn new things. I also want to learn new things. And we succeeded.

“I’m delighted and excited, specifically because the float will change tonight like Cinderella… Regarding the album’s current lead song, “Bebé Perdón,” the singer declared, “We’re going all in.

I play this song often in the car while I drive because it hurts me… Because I’m not living it, it doesn’t bother me because of a personal relationship. It hits a vein of nostalgia for something that no longer exists, that is already gone, a portion of nostalgia for our country, someplace in our life history, even if I am extremely happy and appreciative in my life, she said.

The singer claims that the film was shot in California at 115 degrees, where the pavement caused the bottoms of her boots to melt as she kept an eye out for rattlesnakes that live there. The song is performed by the vocalist in an open field while she is supported by three musicians, a truck, and a silver sequin top with fringes.
