The album was recorded at RCA Studio A in Nashville, Tennessee, where Stapleton has recorded all of his previous albums.

The album features a mix of upbeat and reflective songs, with themes of love, loss, and perseverance.

Stapleton's wife, Morgane Stapleton, provides harmonies on several tracks, including "Starting Over," "Cold," and "Joy of My Life."
